How to Edit Your Note with our AI Chatbot Editor
What are the ways you can edit your note in JotPsych?
JotPsych provides several options for you to edit your note to match your exact preferences and documentation style:
Direct edit: make manual changes to the note
Recommended for minor tweaks and fixes (e.g., deleting or changing a few words).
AI edit: use the AI Note Assistant to change your note for you
Recommended for broader changes (e.g., shortening a long section, changing terminology, applying an update everywhere), and for changes you may want JotPsych to remember for future notes.
With the AI Note Assistant, you can edit one section, multiple sections, or add missing details from the visit.
How to direct edit your note
Find the section of the note you want to edit.
Click Edit.
The section becomes a text editor. Make your changes (delete, add, or modify text).
Changes to the note will Autosave.
How to use AI to edit your note (AI Note Assistant)
Open the note you want to revise.
In the right-side panel, find AI Note Assistant.
In the text box (“Describe how you’d like this note changed…”), type what you want updated.
Example: “Shorten the HPI.”
Submit your request (click the send arrow).
Review the results:
The assistant will tell you which section(s) it updated (for example, “Applied changes to 1 section(s): HPI…”).
You can approve the change or revert to the original.
Optional: train the section for the future
If JotPsych detects a reusable formatting/style preference, you may see a prompt like:
“Would you like to train ‘HPI’ to always apply this formatting/style change?”Choose No thanks for a one-time change, or Yes, train this to apply the same style in future notes.
FAQs
What are some common prompts that will help me when using AI Note Assistant?
✂️ Shorten / expand
“Shorten the HPI.”
“Make the Assessment richer in clinical detail.”
🔄 Apply a change everywhere
“Change Trileptal to 600 mg BID everywhere.”
“Replace ‘pt’ with ‘patient’ throughout the note.”
➕ Add missing content from the visit
“Add a PTSD assessment using what we discussed.”
“Add any relevant safety planning discussed to the Safety Assessment.”
🎭 Adjust tone / language
“Make this more clinical and objective.”

I used AI edit and it didn’t do what I wanted. What should I try?
Be specific about what you want changed and where (which section, or “everywhere”).
If the change is big, break it into smaller steps (e.g., “Shorten the HPI” first, then “Make it bullet points”).
If you didn’t mean for a change to become a permanent style, choose No thanks when asked to train.
How do I undo what the AI changed?
After an AI edit, click the revert button next to the section to roll back the change for that section.
