What does the Document Generator let you do?

  • Create any type of clinical document you need like:

    • Emotional Support Animal (ESA) letters

    • Disability or leave support letters (e.g., FMLA, short-term disability supplements)

    • Medical necessity letters

    • Referrals to prescribers, PCPs, or specialists

  • Leverage AI + your session notes to quickly generate polished drafts with patient / session context that you can edit and finalize.

  • Stay HIPAA compliant — everything runs securely within JotPsych, so you don’t need to paste content into external tools.

How to use the Document Generator

  1. Navigate to a note for the patient you’d like to create a document for.

    • Alternatively, you can start from the Patient Profile.

  2. Click “Generate Documents” on the floating toolbar at the bottom of the screen

  3. Describe the document you need

    • In the prompt box, write a short description (e.g., “ESA letter for a dog” or “Discharge summary”).

  4. Click Generate and JotPsych will create a draft for you in seconds.

    • A pop-up will appear showing the draft version of the document.

  5. Edit and refine

    • Make changes directly in the document...

    • Or use the AI prompt panel on the left to request quick edits and adjustments.

  6. Finalize and share

    • When ready, click Share to print, download as a PDF, or securely send the document to the patient via SMS or email.

FAQs

How do I save a template of a document type that I use frequently?

After you've created a document that you like and plan to re-use in the future, click the Share button. Then click Save as Template. Next time you use the Document Generator feature, the template should be listed for you to re-use.

How do I edit the header on the document?

Navigate to your Account Settings by clicking the icon on the upper right corner of JotPsych. Click Document Preferences. Modify the heading that you want to appear at the top of your documents.
